Sun Prints

Great activity for a sunny day

Materials Needed:

  • Construction Paper (Best results with Black)
  • Toys or objects (flatter objects are better like toy cars, buttons, coins)

Instructions:

  1. Put down construction paper in direct sunlight (somewhere it can get 4 hours direct sun). If it’s not outside look for a sunny window. You may have to slightly move the paper (VERY slowly to keep objects from moving) to stay in the sunny area.
  2. Place your objects on the paper and leave it for 4 hours. Try not to move it (believe me this takes more patience than you imagine).
  3. After 4 hours you can remove objects and see the “print” that is left behind. You can see in ours that the eye glass(without lenses) moved and was thin so it didn’t have a strong effect as the others. (do not put glasses with lenses in sun).
