Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Address: 50 Hayes Street

Enjoy a performance by Wells Fargo Jazz for Teens after a reading of Chato’s Kitchen or Nighttime Symphony at select local Newark Public Libraries! NJPAC Teaching Artist Wincey Terry will lead a free reading from 4–5PM and then the jazz ensemble will perform from 5–6PM at specific locations listed below.

  • Nighttime Symphony: As a little boy gets ready for bed, the sounds of a wild storm echo around him, lulling him to sleep. From the crash of thunder to the pitter-patter of raindrops to the beat of passing cars, the music of the city creates a cozy bedtime soundtrack.
  • Chato’s Kitchen: Chato, the coolest cat in East L.A., couldn’t be happier when a family of mice moves into the “barrio”. When Chato gets out the pots and pans to prepare a feast in honor of their new neighbors, he gets more than he can handle with the surprise guest the mice bring along.

First 25 families attending the event will receive a free copy of the book!

  • Program Length: Two Hours.
  • Siblings: Open to all ages. Siblings are welcome.
